Sadhvi Abha Sarasvati, Director of Yoga Programs
Parmarth Niketan Ashram

Yogacharya Sadhvi Abha Saraswati, director of the Yoga programs at Parmarth, cured herself of nephritis through Yoga, and was formally trained at the highly respected Bihar School of Yoga in Varanasi, India. She has been the resident director of the Yoga programs and Vedic Gurukul at Parmarth for over 11 years and oversees the education of 120 Rishikumars (orphan boys in the care of the ashram), as well as the regular public Yoga programs for the international community that revolves through Parmarth year-round. She has 35 years of experience teaching Yoga to students of diverse backgrounds from all over the world. With the wisdom of embodiment, clarity of speech, and a touch of humor she brings to her students an understanding of the interpenetration of the teachings of Sanatan Dharma (the timeless truth) with the modern issues affecting people from all walks of life. 

 

Phoenix Artemisia, RYT 500

YTT director Phoenix Artemisia is certified by Yoga Alliance at the RYT 500 level and has studied traditional Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Iyengar Yoga with senior teachers for 14 years and in India for the last 3 years. Her classes combine essential teachings and techniques from the vast collage of Yoga methods. Her classes are creative and dynamic with precise sequencing stemming from 14 years of her own strong practice and grounded in 8 years of teaching publicly and internationally. She has taught students from all over the world at her programs in India and in Greece. Phoenix is experienced in Yoga therapy and has worked with people whose bodies are extraordinarily healthy and flexible and also with students of different physical abilities and disabilities, including quadriplegics. She has also instructed for students without English language skills, thus she is convinced of and inspired by the universal efficacy of the Yoga practice.

 

Dr. Anuradha Shweta was educated and licensed as an Ayurvedic Doctor in Kerala, India. She founded the Jeevaka Institute of Rishikesh in order to serve the medical and therapeutic needs of the community and has a trained staff of 8 women who are carrying the torch of traditional Ayurvedic healing into the visibility of the international, mainstream Yogic community that assembles in Rishikesh throughout the year. A gifted healer with enormous knowledge and an informed intuition, Dr. Anuradha is a gifted speaker and passionate teacher in her field and we are grateful to have her presence as facilitator for the Introductory and Applied Ayurvedic Foundations section of our training.
